Preparing to Battle Cystic Fibrosis

M

In my days as home health aide, I came across patients with a variety of disabilities and illnesses. Each of those patients had some sort of disease. As a home health aide, I had two patients that I came to know and respect; with their deceases they were stronger than those in good health. One patient had multiple sclerosis (MS) and the other suffered from cystic fibrosis (CF).

Thus, this article asks for secrets of living with cystic fibrosis. The truth is; there are no secrets. Like other diseases out there, such as emphysema, depression, HIV and Alzheimer's, the trick is to have faith, be strong willed and have pure love for your family member or friend with cystic fibrosis.

There are many helpful ways to cope with cystic fibrosis, whether you are the one that has the disease or the one that has a loved one with cystic fibrosis. This is to how I learn how to deal with it myself.

Tip 1: Find all the information that you can possibly obtain on cystic fibrosis.

Tip 2: Use the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) as a resource.

Tip 3: Follow the treatment plan that the doctor provides.

Tip 4: Break up the mucus in the lungs as best you can. There is information out there what will help you do this.

Tip 5: Choose a career that will allow you to deal with the disease. Most businesses allow you to work from home. Or you can start a business from home. This is a great idea if your children are the ones with the disease. Keep in mind that cystic fibrosis affects both children and adults.

Tip 6: If your child has a cystic fibrosis and goes to school, make sure that school staff is educated on the disease. You can also home school them.

Tip 7: You can also get help and hire a home health aide. This will allow you to do things around the house while they attend to your loved one. Keep in mind that the home health care firm will also appoint a registered nurse that is well qualified.

Here are some Web sites that can offer you information on the disease. The information will arm you with the necessary ammunition to face cystic fibrosis along with your loved one.
