Preparing Your Guest Room for Christmas Guests

Terra Husser Farrell
When creating a guest living space for the christmas it is important to make the room both functional and comfortable. First thing you will want to decide are the basic needs of your guest. It isn't completely necessary to go out and by new drapes and a brand new comforter set at all. You can update your bed just by putting new linens on it. Make sure that each guest that will be utilizing the space has at least two pillows.

Satin pillowcases will help with keeping hair styled the way it was meant to be. Make sure that the bed has at least two blankets on it also one light and one more heavy. That way if they are hot or cold they can either add one or take one away.

Having a place to put their belongings such as jewelry, glasses, or even a cup of water next to the bed will also be something that adds to the comfort of the space. Make sure that there is adequate lighting in the room it will make it easier if your guest has to get up in the middle of the night in unfamiliar surroundings.

In the guest bathroom make sure that you have enough towels for them making sure to include a hand towel, bath towel and wash cloth. I would suggest having at least two sets per person available in the bathroom. I would also suggest having extra's near by.

You can add simple touches in the guest bathroom like a bath or shower mat, candles and bath products. There is no need to go and buy the most expensive set of bath and body products but a little something will make it warm and inviting. You can often find these things at dollar stores and they look great also.

Make sure that your guest's have a place to put their clothing and belongings. Have an empty dresser available in the room or make a place in the closet and make sure to have a few extra hangers available. Also if your guest are going to be staying for more then a few days add a laundry hamper so that they will have a place to put there dirty clothes.

You can make the guest bedroom comfortable by adding a television, alarm clock, a telephone and possibly even a small coffee pot.

Make sure that you have thoroughly washed the bedding and cleaned the room making sure that it is free from dust and dirt. If you happen to have an air purifier available add it to the room if you know your guest has breathing problems. Make sure that all available outlets in the bedroom and bathroom are available so you guest's can plug in chargers and hair dryers, curlers, and irons.

Following these steps will surely keep your guest's comfortable and happy while they are with you for their stay. Make the most of having company and enjoy your holiday!
