1. The most important and obvious preparation for Orlando's climate is sun screen. If you aren't used to tropical regions, choose a higher SPF and make sure it provides protection from UVA as well as UVB rays. This will ensure that you are getting all the protection you need.
2. Florida is the place to take an umbrella when it's not raining. Laying out is great for getting a tan but you may soon discover--after going into the hotel room or into the shade--that your tan has become one big fiery blister. If you plan on staying on the beach for awhile, post up a tarp or umbrella to get some relief from the heat.
3. Keeping hydrated is also important. The Orlando sun can really sap the energy out of a person so bring plenty of water and beverages to keep you and your family safe from heat exhaustion. Over the years heat exhaustion has proven to be more of a concern among children and seniors alike, so keep this in mind if you plan to be soaking up the sun for extended periods of time.
4. Don't be afraid to stay in the hotel a day or two or make plans that involve the shade or nightlife. Check out some of the malls or local shops. Florida is known for it's beautiful beaches but don't feel pressured to enjoy it every single day of your vacation.
5. Consider buying some sun protective clothes. Sun Precautions is a great company that offers cutting edge clothing with an SPF value of 30 or more. Dressing you and your family with Sun Precautions can really make a difference in keeping a devastating Orlando sun burn from happening.
Whether you are staying for a weekend or a month, preparing for Orlando's climate is essential. While following these tips you can rest assured that your vacation can be enjoyed without any interruption. Also, no one wants to be that angry guy with a sunburn moaning into work on Monday morning.
