Preparing Your Wedding Reception Menu

Ava Petersen
This is the meal that will be the most time consuming and energy consuming, and it will be the one meal that you will barely have time to enjoy eating. Reception menu is the mot significant part of the reception preparation. It maybe also is the only time that you and your partner will need to organize a full and well organized menu for a very extensive gathering. With little to no experience at all in organizing for a large-scale gathering or party, many of the couples have made a grave mistake by ordering the most expensive meals on the menu and go over the wedding budget, which is really not necessary.

The traditional wedding reception layout generally includes: Hors d'œuvres, appetizer, main course, wedding cake, drinks, and wine. You should be imaginative to mix and match the different courses of the meal. It will also help and consider your guests' preferences. You may also alter the meals' layout to make it work for your wedding theme. Start searching for caterers or for someone to prepare your reception menu about 8 to 9 months prior to the wedding. This will give you ample time to search possible caterers, make the final selection of meals, and plan the reception menu layout. You should be able to finalize your wedding's reception menu 4 or 3 months prior to the reception date.

Use your creativity in planning your reception menu. It would be nice for your reception menu to be able to reflect a bit of you and your couple's taste and personality. In selecting the kinds of food that will go in your reception menu, you should also give the time of serving the foods a though. If you want to downplay the part of alcohol, you can serve a breakfast reception or brunch reception. Having a breakfast or brunch reception will also substantially lessen your spending for the reception menu. Just play around with your imagination keeping in mind the budget and time you have.

Arrange a taste test with the caterer you have chosen and be open to suggestion, also do not hesitate to give you input in the food prepared (i.e. change the sauce). You should also pay close attention the preparation of the food. The food preparation should also be as pleasing to the eyes as with the taste pleasing to the tongue.

Remember to do the preparation of your reception menu as well as with the rest of the wedding preparations early to give you ample time to choose and to give you a lot of time to make selection and entertain other options!
