Preparing Young Girls for Beauty Pageant-Gown Presentations

For many girls being portrayed as confident without saying a word is a very difficult and intimidating task. For young girls, getting dressed up is extremely exciting and fun. But when they have to model this outfit in front of a room full of people, they often panic. This can be prevented. Young girls who are going to be in a pageant can practice a few things and be sure to follow some simple guidelines to improve their gown-presentation skills.

First, the young girl should feel comfortable and secure in the dress that she is wearing. In order, for the young lady to feel confident in the dress, which is something that cannot be faked, she should feel beautiful in the gown. She should also not be afraid of falling off of her heals, falling out of her dress, or falling down the stairs, because of her gown or shoes. Additionally, if the dress is age appropriate a lot of these fears and complications can easily be prevented.

Secondly, the young lady should wear the dress and her shoes, numerous times before the pageant. She should wear the shoes pretty much constantly including just around the house or out when getting the mail. This will help break the shoes in and will help her feel comfortable when wearing them. She should also wear her dress around the house because it should not feel foreign to her and she needs to learn to move in it.
Practicing walking, smiling, and pausing, in front of a mirror will help her realize how she looks and will also help her feel beautiful in the gown. Additionally, her hair and makeup should be practiced several times before the event so that the stress on the day of the pageant is limited. Along with practicing hair and makeup the project of changing into the dress should be practiced in its entirety, starting with hair and progressing all the way to walking on the stage, so that the young girl does not get frazzled.

Finally, the girl who seems as though she is having the time of her life when modeling in front of the judges and the audience is the girl that stands out in the judges minds. She should make eye contact with all the people in the room and should not stare at the judges or the floor. The speed in which she walks should also be natural and should be practiced because the nerves when she gets on stage will make her want to walk faster then desired. By following these simple tips and practicing the young pageant contestant should have a great result from the gown presentation portion of the pageant.
