Art Projects to Supplement Any Yellow Themed Preschool or Homeschool Lesson Plan
Yellow Fruit and Vegetable Prints
Cut lemons, yellow squash, and yellow bell peppers in half. Spread yellow paint on large sponges to make stamp pads. Let children use the fruits and vegetable as stampers to create patterns and designs on white paper.
Yellow Sun Pictures
Put a small circle of paint on a piece of paper that a child has drawn an outdoor scene on and give the child a cotton swab. Show the student how to put the swab in the middle of the paint circle a draw a line outward making a sun ray. Let the child continue making sun rays until she or he is satisfied. Sprinkle a little glitter on the completed sun.
Yellow Daffodil Picture
Give students two yellow cupcake liners each and have them flatten the liners and glue them to a piece of paper, one on top of the other. Give each student two more cupcake liners and have them glue the unflattened liners inside of the flattened them. Have the students finish the picture by drawing on the stems and the leaves.
Yellow Classroom Collage
Cut out a piece of red poster board into a recognizable shape that is usually yellow, such as a school bus or a lemon. Throughout the week, ask children and parents to bring in pictures of items that are yellow to attach to the poster. They can also bring in small yellow items, such as ribbon, scraps of wrapping paper, and pom poms. At the end of the week, you will have a collage of many yellow items to share with your class..
Yellow School Bus
Trace and cut out school bus shapes out of construction paper. Give each student two milk caps or two large buttons to make the wheels of the bus. Also provide a strip of light blue paper. Let students cut the strip into squares to be the windows on the bus. Also give each child a strip of paper with the name of their school printed on it to glue to the side of the bus.
Happy Yellow Sun
Give each student a yellow paper plate or let them paint a plate yellow. When, ready, give each student a several orange triangles to glue around the edges of the plate to be the sun's rays. They can also draw a face inside the sun. Use the suns as bulletin board decorations, or tie a string to them and hang them from the ceiling.
