Preschool at Home: Top Three Websites for Homeschoolers

Fun, Free, Educational Websites for Your Homeschooled Preschooler!

Tara Van Ness
If you are homeschooling your preschool aged child, you may be looking for some ideas on how to teach them some basic computer skills. You may also find that you are looking for some fun, interactive ways to teach them preschool concepts. There are some very educational and fun websites designed specifically for preschool aged students. If you homeschool your preschooler, these websites are an especially useful addition to your preschool homeschool curriculum. The best part is, they are all free!

1. Starfall

This website is educational, fun, colorful, and will both entertain and educate your homeschooling preschooler. They can begin building the basic concepts of letters, phonics, reading, rhyming, word families and stories. Also, your preschool child will learn the basics of clicking the mouse, and navigating simple computer instructions. My daughter especially loved the learning letters portion. Even though she already knew her letters, it helped to reinforce those concepts I had taught her when she was smaller. For a preschool-aged homeschooling child, the repetition, visual teaching, coupled with songs, rhymes, and highlighting of each word help kids to begin the building blocks of reading.

2. Enchanted Learning

I can't say enough about this educational, fun, informative website that is chock-full of homeschool fun for your preschooler! There are crafts, lessons, different subjects, biographies, art instruction, the list goes on. This is a free site, but for a small yearly fee, you can get even more educational features to help homeschool your young child. We have looked at biographies, have explored some preschool-age appropriate maths, and have had some educational fun doing crafts that also help teach.

3. Sqool Tube

This website is really cool. Basically, it is like YouTube, except it is all educational videos for kids. That means, you can choose what your preschooler is watching. You can make sure their homeschool educational experience includes multimedia, and you can choose the content. Lots of videos for preschoolers. I love this site because there are some educational concepts I have trouble teaching my preschooler during homeschool, so the videos provide great teaching moments along with visual interest for my young homeschooling daughter. We reinforce the video learning by discussing what we watched and doing crafts or worksheets related to the topic.

These three websites will get you well on your way to homeschooling your preschooler. You will be able to build a curriculum based around them, and they will inspire you to branch out and find your own unique style and flow with homeschooling.
