Acorn eaters: Cut sugar cookies with squirrel shaped cookie cutters. Bake and serve the squirrel shaped cookies to your preschool students. Ask you students to tell you what squirrels eat.

Fine Motor Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Acorns
Set out coloring pages of large acorns. Go over the outline with a black marker. Now give your preschool students sheets of thin white paper. Instruct them to trace the acorns. A good idea is to tape the acorn templates to the table in order to prevent them from slipping. After the acorns have been traced, let your preschool students color the acorn pictures with brown crayons or markers. Now instruct your students to cut the acorns out with safety scissors.
Gross Motor Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Acorns
Divide your preschool students into two lines. Across the room set up 2 buckets for each of the two groups. Fill one buckets with nuts of all sorts, including acorns. Also, set a small plastic shovel in the bucket of nuts.Leave the second bucket empty. One at a time, have students from each cross an obstacle course of your making, ending up at the buckets. They should then scoop out three shovelfuls of nuts and pour them into the empty bucket. Have them run back to their group. When they reach their group, it is the next person in line's turn.
Art Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Acorns
At your preschool classroom's art easel, let each of your students draw paint an acorn on a white sheet of paper with brown tempera paint. Encourage your students to remember to add a "cap" to the acorn. Provide a photograph of an acorn and a collection of acorns that your students can touch and inspect for inspiration.

Set up your math center with construction paper, brown acorn die cuts, glue and real acorns. Have your students count out 3 acorn die cuts and glue them to a piece of construction paper. Now have them count out 3 real acorns and, using plenty of glue, glue them to the die cut acorns; 3 real acorns on each of the 3 die cut acorns.
Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Acorns
For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters A and a lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 3.
For older students, provide an example of the letters A and a and the number 3. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.
