Gross Motor Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Alligators

Have your preschool students lie on their stomachs on a slick floor. Let them scoot around on their tummies like alligators swimming in water.

Another idea, and one more suitable to the cleanliness of your preschool students' clothing, is to have your students lie down on their stomachs on flat four-wheeled scooters. Now let your preschool students pretend to be alligators as they scoot across the slick floor.

Art Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Alligators

Alligator tummies: Give each of your students an outline of an alligator. Let them cut out the alligator shapes with safety scissors and color them with brown crayons. Now let your preschool students choose pictures from old magazines to cut or tear out and glue onto the stomach of the alligator. Ta da! They have used their imaginations to determine what their paper alligators ate that day.

Note: Discourage your students from gluing pictures of people or pets onto their alligators.

The letter A has 3 lines: Give your students sheets of paper with an outline of a capital letter A. Now have them write 3 letter As on the outline of the capital A. Encourage them to count each line of each A as they write them.

Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Alligators

For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters A and a lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 3.

For older students, provide an example of the letters A and a and the number 3. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.
