Beading: Give each preschool student a length of yarn and several beads. Let them string the beads on the yarn, pretending to make fire hoses like firefighters use.

I'm a firefighter!: Lead your preschoolers in a firefighter pantomime. Swing your arms like you are wielding an axe to break down a door. Pretend to climb a ladder. Pretend to use both hands to direct a heavy hose toward the imaginary flames.

Give each of your preschool students a piece of white paper cut in the shape of a dog. Set out black paint on paper plates and also set out some sponge pieces. Have your students dip the sponges in the black paint and then make black spots on the paper dogs. Ta da! Dalmatians!

Pre-math Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Firefighters

Set out the letters f, i, r, e that you have previously cut from felt or laminated construction paper. Put out an example of the word fire for your students to use as a guide. Have them set out the letters, properly spelling the word fire. Instruct your preschool students to count the number of letters in the word fire. Now have your preschool students count out 4 firehat shapes to set beneath the 4 lettered word.

Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Firefighters

For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters F and f lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 4.

For older students, provide an example of the letters F and f and the number 4. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.

Write the word fire on your preschool classroom's white erase board. Let your students copy the word fire on the white board with red dry erase markers.
