Hamster, Hamster, Gerbil!: Lead your preschool students in a rousing game of Duck, Duck, Goose, but change the words to Hamster, Hamster, Gerbil!
Art Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Gerbils
String painting: Gerbils have long tails. Give each of your preschool students a length of string and a sheet of white construction paper. Set out brown paint on a paper plate. Have your students dip the brown string in the brown paint and then drag the string along the white paper. Ta da! It will give the appearance of a gerbil tail's trail.

Pre-math Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Gerbils
Set out the letters g-e-r-b-i-l that you have previously cut from felt or laminated construction paper. Put out an example of the word gerbil for your students to use as a guide. Have them set out the letters, properly spelling the word gerbil. Instruct your preschool students to count the number of letters in the word gerbil. Now have your preschool students count out 6 gerbil shapes to set beneath the 6 lettered word.
Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Gerbils
For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters G and g lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 6.
For older students, provide an example of the letters G and g and the number 6. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.
Write the word gerbil on your preschool classroom's white erase board. Let your students copy the word gerbil on the white board with brown dry erase markers.
