Fine Motor Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Grasshoppers
Rice play: Fill your preschool classroom's sensory table with rice that you have tinted green with food coloring. Add plastic sand buckets and shovels to the the sensory table, as well colanders, forks and spoons. Let your students hone their fine motor skills by holding the utensils while playing with the green rice at the sensory table. Encourage your preschool students to enhance their fine motor skills by having them pick up pieces of green rice one at a time. Add some plastic toy grasshoppers to the rice, as well. Your students will be using their fine motor skills as they hold onto the small toys and play with them.

When the project is finished, attach it to the bulletin board for all to see and enjoy.
Songs/Finger Plays for Preschool Lesson Plan: Grasshoppers
There are not many grasshopper songs to be found, so I thought up this extremely simple rhyme. Sing to the tune of Ten Little Indians.
One little, two little,
Three little grasshoppers,
Four little, five little,
Six little grasshoppers,
Seven little, eight little,
Nine little grasshoppers,
Ten little grasshoppers HOP!
Pre-math Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Grasshoppers
Place some toy grasshoppers in an empty Pringles can and put the lid on top of the can. Shake the can. Take the lid off and gently toss the grasshoppers into the air. When they land, have your students count how many grasshoppers hopped out of the can. Do this several times with different numbers of grasshoppers.
Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Grasshoppers
For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters G and g lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 5.
For older students, provide an example of the letters G and g and the number 5. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.
