Tongs: Put ice cubes in your preschool classroom's sensory table. Let your preschool students use tongs to pick up and then release the ice cubes.

Faux ice skating: Take your preschool students to an uncarpeted area in your school. Set down two sheets of waxed paper for each student to stand on. Now let them "ice skate" around the room!

Ice painting: Give each of your preschool students a large sheet of slick white paper. Set out bright colors of tempera paint on paper plates. Set out a bowl of ice cubes. Let your preschool students dip an ice cube in paint and then slide it along the paper, making an abstract piece of art.

Pre-math Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Ice
Set out the letters i-c-e that you have previously cut from felt or laminated construction paper. Put out an example of the word ice for your students to use as a guide. Have them set out the letters, properly spelling the word ice. Instruct your preschool students to count the number of letters in the word ice. Now have your preschool students count out 3 squares to set beneath the 3 lettered word.
Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Ice
For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters I and i lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 3.
For older students, provide an example of the letters I and i and the number 3. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.
Write the word ice on your preschool classroom's white erase board. Let your students copy the word ice on the white board with dry erase markers.
