Snack for Preschool Lesson Plan: Ladybugs

Sugar cookies: Bring some purchased sugar cookie dough to preschool with you or have your preschool students help you mix up some sugar cookie dough in class. Roll out the sugar dough. Let your preschool students use a cookie cutter that is the shape of a circle (a standard biscuit cutter) to cut out their cookies. After the cookies have baked and cooled, let your preschool students ice the cookies with vanilla icing that you have previously tinted red with food coloring. Now give your students a small tube of black gel icing with which to paint on a small head, a line to separate the ladybug's wings and some black dots on the wings. Perhaps some of your preschool students would prefer to use raisins for the ladybug dots.
