Fine Motor Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Llama

Tweezers: Set out a plate of white cotton balls, an empty egg carton and a pair of tweezers. One at a time, let your preschool students pick up a cotton ball with the tweezers, set it in the egg carton and repeat until the egg carton is full.

Galloping: Let your students gallop around the classroom or the playground, pretending to ride llamas.

Sensory painting: Cut out a llama shape from a large sheet of white paper for each of your preschool students. Add some flour, torn cotton balls or any other white substance to white paint. Let your students finger paint the llama shapes with the whtie paint mixture. The addition of flour or cotton to the white paint will give the llama paintings an authentic fluffy look.

For added fun, make up a felt board activity with ten white llama pieces cut from felt and ten pairs of felt llama pajamas of different colors.

Pre-math Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Llama

Set out the letters l, l, a, m, a that you have previously cut from felt or laminated construction paper. Put out an example of the word llama for your students to use as a guide. Have them set out the letters, properly spelling the word llama. Instruct your preschool students to count the number of letters in the word llama. Now have your preschool students count out 5 llama shapes to set beneath the 5 lettered word.

Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Llama

For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters L and l lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 5.

For older students, provide an example of the letters L and l and the number 5. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.

Write the word llama on your preschool classroom's white erase board. Let your students copy the word llama on the white board with white dry erase markers.
