Snacks for Preschool Lesson Plan: Pilot

For your pilot theme, let your preschoolers make simple airplanes for their snacks. Give each student two graham cracker rectangles and a dollop of vanilla icing. Let them spread some icing on the center of one graham cracker with a craft stick. Then have them set the other graham cracker across the first, in the shape of a plus sign (or rather, an airplane!).

Sorting: Set out three bowls and several small manipulatives in the shapes of planes, cars and boats. Have the students separate the three types of vehicles, using the three bowls.

I can fly!: Take your preschool students outdoors and let them hold out their arms while they run! Let them pretend to be airplanes or the pilots flying the airplanes.

What does a pilot see?: Give each of your preschool students a piece of white paper and markers or crayons. Tell them to pretend that they are high in the sky flying an airplane. What do they see when they look down at the ground? Have them draw their imaginary views.

Pre-math Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Pilot

Set out the letters p, i, l, o, t that you have previously cut from felt or laminated construction paper. Put out an example of the word pilot for your students to use as a guide. Have them set out the letters, properly spelling the word pilot. Instruct your preschool students to count the number of letters in the word pilot. Now have your preschool students count out 5 wing shapes to set beneath the 5 lettered word.

Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Pilot

For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters P and p lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. Do the same with the number 5.

For older students, provide an example of the letters P and p and the number 5. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.

Write the word pilot on your preschool classroom's white erase board. Let your students copy the word pilot on the white board with blue dry erase markers.
