Real turtle pick ups: Bring some small water turtles to your classroom. Place the turtles in your preschool classroom's sensory table. Under your watchful eye, let your preschoolers take turns picking the little turtles from the water with their fingers.
Gross Motor Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Turtles
Letter T: Have your preschool students split up into groups of two. Instruct them to lie on the floor, making a letter T using their two bodies.
Slow mo dancing: Turtles are quite poky. They would even make poky dancers! Play some extremely slow music, letting your preschool students move to the music in a melodramatic and slow motion.
Art Center Activity for Preschool Lesson Plan: Turtles
Construction paper turtle: Have your preschool students cut out a half circle from green construction paper. Provide your students with templates of turtle heads, feet and tails printed on green construction paper. Instruct them to cut out one turtle head, one turtle tail and four turtle feet. Have your preschool students glue the turtle body parts and shell together. Let them glue a googly eye or two on the turtle heads. Now let your students tear pieces off a sheet of brown construction paper and glue those pieces on the turtle shells to make individual designs.

Pre-math Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Turtles
Make felt cut outs of the letters t, u, r, t, l, e. Place the letters spelling the world turtle on your preschool classroom's felt board. Have your preschool students count out the number of letters on the felt board. Now set out some felt cut outs of green turtles. Instruct your preschool students to count out six turtles and place them on the felt board, beneath the word turtle. Have them count the turtles as they place them on the felt board.
Pre-writing Center Activities for Preschool Lesson Plan: Turtles
For younger students, provide sheets of paper with the letters T and t lightly printed on them. Have the children trace the letters. do the same with the number 6.
For older students, provide an example of the letters T and t and the number 6. Have the students practice writing the letters and number freehand.
