Shapes are a big part of our lives. Children learn the best through hands on and games, and shapes are introduced at an early stage in life. Are you a teacher looking to teach your preschool class about shapes and need some ideas?
Here are some lessons for shapes.
Shape stamps is a fun art project. These are easy to create, and teachers can purchase cheap sponges from the dollar store. The teacher can draw a shape onto the sponge, then the shape can be cut out. These make perfect stencils. The remainder pieces of left over stamp can be glued onto the stamp stencil
Cotton art is a great for preschoolers. The teacher can draw a shape on a piece of construction paper. The shape can either be a square, circle, triangle, rectangle, etc. Cotton can be dipped into a small container of glue. The cotton ball then can be placed inside the shape on the paper. Each shape can have its very own color.
Potatoes aren't just for eating. They are perfect for art projects. The teacher will need to cut the potato in half, and both halves can then be cut into a specific shape such as a square. The shape needs to be in a 3-D shape. This will make the potato into a stamp. The potato stamps can be dipped into different color paints. Preschoolers can stamp construction paper, which can be turned into a book on shapes.
A shape collage teaches preschoolers to find shapes in their daily lives. The shapes can be cut out from old magazines. This lesson plan will teach them that everyday things are a shape of something. This lesson plan can be done in groups or individually, then collected into one large classroom collage. The choice is up to the teacher.
Preschool teachers can do a lesson plan for a different shape for a different day of the week. For example, a square lesson plan be done on Monday, triangles on Tuesday, etc. There are so many lesson plan options for shapes, and preschoolers are eager to learn. Shapes are easy and fun to work with, and teachers will have a blast creating lesson plans for their little students.
