When ever the cat does receive a gift it is usually a bought toy or special treat, rarely is the present home-made. If you are looking for an idea of what to give that loving family member, then look no further. In this article, you will find four original and cute gift ideas for your cat. Each gift is to be hand-made and full of love.
· Give your cat a friend.
Even though cats are independent by nature, they still want a friend to be around when they need it. Make your cat a stuff animal, so that no matter where you are your cat will always have someone waiting for him/her. Just like toddlers, cats love teddy bears and other animals of the stuffed variety.
If you are not the creative type and do not have time to hand sew a teddy bear, 'Build a Bear' is the perfect place to go. You are able to choose your own animal skin and fill it with stuffing. You can then place a heart with in the teddy bear and a recording of your voice.
Those with little ones will also have a fun time in this adorable store. You and your child/children will be able to enjoy the teddy making process together. It is also a great lesson teaching experience. You will be able to teach your child how to give gifts willing and allow them to feel important. Even though they may not be the ones buying the bear, they will be the ones making it. Therefore they are the ones who gave the gift to their furry friend.
You will also be able to get to know your little one/s this way. You kid/s will create the teddy bear to their preference. In this way you will learn their likes and dislikes. They are also more open to answering questions. This works best with little kids about eight and younger.
This way, not only did you spend time with your kids and got to know them, you also created a gift for your kitten. If you went alone, you were able to create a gift with your own hands, with out the mess.
Make the Cat a home.
By building the house with a family member or members, you can get to know them all the more. This project is also relaxing to build on ones own. Your cat will appreciate the effort you put in the house, and will use it often. After all a cats favorite toy is a doll house, ever wonder why?
The material you will need can be found at any local hardware store. If you are able to get to a Home Depot, the specialists there can help you find the materials you need and explain how to make the house. Unless you are a self study, then sites like How to Build a Custom Doghouse, you can customize the house for your cat, or How to Build a Cat House, this site has a more budget saving version of a cat house, are a great help.
If you want to make a decorative home for your cat, you can go to your local arts and crafts store. There you will find every thing you need to decorate your cat's home. You could also visit Joann Fabrics for more interior decorations.
Give it a place to sleep.
For a human, a pillow is just a comfort, but for a cat it can be a bed. Take a plain pillow of any color or variety, or you can sew a pillow to your own specifications. Using scraps of material and other odds and ends you can decorate the pillow how ever you wish. This way you can have the pillow match in with your décor.
By using a shallow, pillow-sized box, you can turn any pillow into a bed. Decorate the box to fit into your décor, or make it look like a real bed frame. The pillow is no longer the bed, but the mattress. Place the pillow into the box. You cat now has a beautiful bed.
A table setting or decorated hand towel can be your cat's bed's blanket. Even though felines have fur, they still get cold. By giving the cat its own blanket, you will ensure that it sleeps in its own bed then on something you don't want it on. The cat will also come home when it is out, because it knows it has a warm bed waiting for it.
Giving your cat a bed of his/her own, you give it a sense of home and care. The best part of the present is it is cheap and easy to make. It is perfect for any budget. You can make this present in a group or alone. Each part of the present can be customized to your own preference.
Treat your cat to a special, inedible surprise.
If you are more the creative, hands-on type, you can make your kitten a treat. A cat's favorite inedible treat is catnip. The smell of catnip does to a cat what the smell of your favorite dessert does to you. It hypes the cat up because it knows it's in for a real treat. (Medical note: Catnip is not toxic to your cat. If it ingests too much, it might have an upset stomach, but that is all.)
Catnip toys are well loved by cats, with the exception of kittens younger then six months and elderly cats (whom are unaffected by the smell of catnip). Placing catnip in a toy mouse or other toy shape, your cat will have hours of fun. All you have to do is sew a tiny, soft, cat toy and stuff it with catnip. You will be able to find fresh or dried catnip at Petsmart, Petco, or a local pet store. Your cat will be as happy as it could possibly be with the toy, because you mixed its two favorite play things.
If you want to join in the fun give the toy a long, strong tail. This way not only does your cat have hours of fun, but you also have hours of fun.
Your cat will appreciate the time and energy you placed into making these gifts. It will also return the love in it own cat way. These gifts are perfect for every budget and any sized family. If one version of the gift is too expensive, then you can customize the gift to make it fit into your budget.
