Create a Holiday Memory Box
Purchase a sturdy paper box from a craft store. They are inexpensive and can be found in a variety of sizes. Here comes the one and only crafty part.... decorate the box. Paint it, glue ribbons on it, decoupage with holiday tissue paper, write some of the words that represent the holiday to you on it. Each year enclose an envelope with the year written on it which contains special holiday pictures from that year. You might also want to include any special art work your child has done, a program from a holiday performance you attended, a copy of letters to and from Santa, a favorite holiday recipe, your list of people you send holiday greetings to. It may also be fun to have each family member complete a holiday questionnaire with questions related to favorite holiday memory, favorite gift received, favorite food enjoyed, and favorite holiday son or movie. This holiday memory box should be left out in an easily accessible place for all to enjoy each and every year during the holiday season. As the years go by, family and friends will have fun sorting through the pictures and other items collected.
Begin a Christmas Photo Ornament Collection
As I was growing up I received a Christmas ornament every year that represented something I had done or accomplished that year. This is a tradition I carry on with my child, however another alternative is the Christmas photo ornament. There are many options to choose from in the line of Christmas photo ornaments. Many can be purchased at craft stores where you insert a photo yourself. Photo ornaments are also available through many online digital picture companies where the picture is actually printed on the ornament itself. Be sure to date the back of each Christmas ornament if a date is not included. If you give your child a photo ornament each year, they will be able to adorn their very first Christmas tree with beautiful memories when they are grown and on their own.
Blog it
