King Abdullah urged the US to step up its efforts in the next weeks and months, especially due to President Bush's recent invite to an international meeting to kick off the peace process in the Arab region and the rest of the Middle East.
The King also said that issues need to address the huge violence issues between Palestine and Israel, including final status issues for both countries. He also stated that the Arab Peace Initiative has clearly demonstrated and portrayed the Arab will for peace, especially with Israel and its people.
During the meeting with Bush, King Abdullah appreciated the US's help and commitment in offering assistance to Palestine over the recent peace process throughout the region. He also expressed the importance of Israel agreeing to follow peaceful measures as well so that violence would be less likely to occur. He said that the government needs to create peaceful efforts in order for citizens to support peaceful measures as well.
In addition to the Israel and Palestine state conflicts, Abdullah spoke to Bush about Iraq and Jordan's support to strengthen Iraq's unity and security with other Middle Eastern countries. King Abdullah said that including all parties in the political process of creating unity was the key to succeeding.
King Abdullah said that Jordan also appreciated US assistance to them, which helped Jordan's economic development recently. Trade levels between Jordan and the US have progressed highly recently and have also helped Jordan's economic development. The US cites Jordan's peaceful tactics for support of the Middle Eastern country. Bush states that peace easily wins over the US's support for countries, as peace creates even more peace.
In response to King Abdullah's comments, President Bush expressed how important and strong the US's commitment was to support peace efforts and economic stability of Palestine and Israel. He also said the US appreciated Jordan's strong and willing efforts to gain peace throughout the region and between other countries.
The meeting between the US president and King Abdullah are just one of the few efforts to advance the peace process and efforts throughout the Middle East and the Arab region.
