So lets make an example here if President Bush invested this in foreign aid it would mean:
396,074,040 blankets to keep young children and the elderly in Zambia warm.
430,569,297 sets of two mosquito nets to protect families in Ghana, Sudan and Cambodia from malaria.
945,170,253 courses of immunisation for children and pregnant women in Sudan and Zambia.
586,899,581 school supplies kits for children in Cambodia, Kenya, Ghana, Honduras and Lebanon.
666,386,755 contributions of clean water in Kenya.
566,160,204 lambs for families in Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Somalia and Sudan.
454,034,624 contributions of nourishing food for families in emergency situations.
893,115,243 goats for families in Myanmar and Africa.
262,423,352 veggie packs for families in Lebanon and Liberia.
236,726,355 HIV and AIDS camps & shelter for orphans and vulnerable children in Rwanda.
253,251,755 eye surgeries in Zambia.
122,040,079 contributions to reforestation in Mongolia and Sudan.
185,745,496 piglets for families in Cambodia, Uganda, East Timor and Myanmar.
794,045,47 cows for families in Azerbaijan, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
101,135,448 emergency relief kits for desperate families affected by crisis such as famine, flood, earthquake or conflict.
239,618,30 fish farms for hungry families in Liberia and Rwanda.
150,381,14 yaks for Mongolian families.
209,872,58 contributions of clean water for Liberian communities.
To the best of my personal knowledge George W Bush signed the commitment to the 8 MDG (Millenium Development Goals) in September of 2000 at the UN Millenium Summit, This commitment stated that the respective governments will contribute 10% of their annual GDP to foreign aid to eradicate poverty by 2015.
As yet the American government are NOT staying committed to their pledge yet they are spending trillions on weapons to fund their "War On Terror" in Iraq as I have outlined above if these funds were better spent in areas in need of aid the american government would be well ahead of their summit counterparts in terms of meeting the MDG's.
But why is Pres. Bush not interested in funding these projects? Is it because he has to "try and maintain honor" to the Bush family by finishing what his father started in the capture of Saddam (His father was president of the United states from 1989-1993)? Is it because there is nothing of benefit for him in the project other than recognition for helping others?, but of course that doesn't make him any profit. These figures really make you ponder what is the American political view on the push to eradicate poverty and drop the debt, if anything they are contributing to the formation of 3rd world countries firstly by invading Afghanistan (an already well known 3rd world country), despite fighting along side them in Operation Desert Storm and secondly Iraq under the 'guise of making a democratic society of them.
He claims that terrorists are the biggest threat to the American people but correct me if I am wrong here but doesn't swarming another country and dropping weapons on them despite non-commitment to the war by the UN constitute the Iraqi occupation as an act of terrorism on the Iraqi people? Weither the government will admit it or not it was an act of terrorism hanging Saddam, how would the American public react if Bush was hanged for crimes he committed many years earlier, sure Bush isn't a well liked president and Saddam was considered a tyrant by many but he was still their political leader even if it was out of fear only.
Surely it would come to pass in the future that Bush is guilty of war crimes that should have had him impeached from office, personally in my opinion if Clinton could get impeached from congress for engaging in immoral conduct inside the white house, Pres. Bush is certainly within terms of impeachment continuing acts of terrorism in another country and subsequently the death of thousands of military personnel and civilians
