President Obama on Being a Christian on NBC News

Brian Williams Interview

Jackie Hardin
I was raised a Catholic in the north so the first time I met someone who came right out and asked," Are you a Christian?", I wasn't sure what they wanted me to say. Did it mean "Do you believe in Jesus Christ"? Or did it mean, "Was I a born again Christian"? Or where they just fishing for a soul that needed to be saved and were throwing me a line?

I really didn't know.

I had moved from the North to the Bible Belt, where everyone it seemed was a Christian and everyone I was introduced to asked me that question. Are you a Christian? I was and am a Christian but back when I was a practicing Catholic we really didn't refer to ourselves as Christians, we were... but called ourselves Catholics.

So when asked if I was a Christian I answered "Yes I am". And when asked do you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior? I answered "Yes I do". Everyone was happy and the questions stopped there.

So on one hand I can "kind of" understand where the President is coming from. " Kind of"? On the other hand the latest flap on President Obama's religious beliefs is growing in large part because the President won't come right out and answer the question," Are you a Christian"? It's a straight forward, simple, direct question that requires a direct answer.

Instead President Obama dances around and side steps the question as he did on his latest interview on NBC News with Brian Williams on August 29,2010. To watch his response go to www.youtube.com type in More Obama Arrogance-Birth Certificate Plastered on Forehead.

The President talked about his name, his birth certificate and said the question has already been answered. We know that the Obama's attended Rev. Wright's Church, for several years, but this does not make him a Christian. He rarely attends any church since becoming President because as he put it, I don't want to disrupt the congregation. And that's okay because one can be a Christian and not attend church.

But one can not be a Christian, a true Christian without giving a Profession of Faith. President Obama can put an end to all this controversy by not side stepping the issue and talking about other issues, not by attending church, not by having Robert Gibbs and others answer the question.

President Obama can end this debate by simply saying the words." I believe and worship One True God and I accept his Son Jesus Christ as my personal Savior". President Obama say these words on camera and let Youtube do the rest.

  • As a Catholic the first time I was asked "Are you a Christian", I wasn't sure what to say.
  • Can a person be a Christian or a Muslim without a Profession of Faith?
  • Why won't the President proclaim his faith and end the controversy..
Most Christians are proud to proclaim their faith.

Look America how stupid are we when we ask the question if OBOZO is a christian or a muslim? THE ANSWER: I have yet to see a man with a muslim name confessing to be a christian! This is an outright abomination. You have seen several times that he refused to hold his hand over his heart when in ceremony. Look real close at his actions rather than take him at his word. He is a serpent in sheeps clothing.
