President Obama: Have His Views Changed?

Jacqueline Winslow
Obama hasn't changed but American voters have. Struggling to survive, hard-working Americans are looking for a change that will get this country out of the economic crisis. Obama, on the other hand, isn't listening to the voice of the people. He is sticking to his beginning philosophy. His change is and was more than American voters asked for. They wanted change that would benefit them; what they get is change that hasn't helped anyone.

As we've watched over the past year, the economy continues to struggle. Jobs are at an all-time low, and American's are nervous about the future. As we've seen with Obama, he is all for a big government. We haven't seen his views change much while he's been in office. We've seen him bailout large corporations; pass a $787 billion fiscal stimulus program; and created a comprehensive health care reform. He is sticking to his original plan. The question remains as to whether Americans agree with his current plan.

If we wonder how our president is doing, all we have to do is look at the increase in job loss, foreclosure increase, and the small business failures. These are all repercussions of a stock market crash, the country-wide foreclosures, and the country-wide job losses. What you have left is a country struggling to survive.

President Obama can only look back and shake his head. Whatever he's tried, it didn't work. Whatever his economic advisers advised him, they gave faulty advice. The change he promised Americans isn't the change needed. He wouldn't be the first president to make midcourse changes to his staff. Of course, what he needs is to clear out his economic advisers and start fresh. Better yet, fire everyone that is closer around him and get in new blood.

What we know to be true:

• Obama's fiscal stimulus hasn't work.

• Unemployment is still at an all-time high.

• Bankers aren't lending money are suggested.

• Home Owners are losing their homes.

• The economy hasn't rebounded as suggested.

What we need are advisors who know how to balance a budget. It is the time where we need less government and more small businesses creating money flow. What we need is for President Obama to admit failure and show Americans he is aware of how badly our country is really doing. Stop telling us the economy is rebounding when we know that to not be true. Admit when you're wrong and show us you can really earn back our trust.

Is President for or against Illegal Immigrants?

This remains to be seen. What we know to be true is his own aunt, Zeituni Onyango, has lived in the United States an illegal immigrant. Somehow, our own President of the United States has relatives who are a part of the one of the hottest political topics: illegal immigration. It leaves us to wonder if our President is for or against illegal immigrants. Many would suggest that Democrats prefer illegal immigrants to know be a big topic of conversation. Many voters prefer the opposite. Illegal immigrants are a topic that must be addressed; whether it is President Obama's aunt or a perfect stranger. Illegal immigration needs to be addressed by our President in a way that is beneficial to everyday American citizens.

In 2007 we heard President Obama state that the time for immigration is now. If that was true then, he must have known about his own aunt who was an illegal immigrant. Somehow his statements seem less than truthful as his actions don't follow through with his words.

Revitalizing the Economy

During the Presidential election, we all heard Barack Obama talk about change and revitalizing the economy. President Obama has told the American people that he would revitalize the nation's economy; create solid jobs in America; and look out for the hard working American families.

What we have seen over the past year is the exact opposite. With job losses at an all-time high; foreclosures affecting streets across American; and hardworking American families struggling to survive, President Obama's plan of action has not worked. Yes, any new policy does take time, but spending more money than you have never works and yet, that is exactly what President Obama has done; spend lots of money. Bankruptcies across America are a good example. Maybe someone who's been through Bankruptcy should offer the Obama Administration their personal story so he'd come to understand that spending money in times of crisis isn't the answer.

No, we can't remold our economy of what was done in the past. What we can do is reshape the economy to create sustainable jobs, end the foreclosure crisis, and rehabilitate the economy. President Obama's change for American hasn't given us any of these. Travel to cities like Cape Coral, Florida and you will see firsthand the effects of the economy.

Of course, these are just a couple issues that leave American voters puzzled as to how President Obama believes. As the November elections grow near, American voters are looking at every issue before they decide how they will vote. President Obama has much at stake this November election. Can he win back the support of so many people who voted for him in the Presidential election? Can he rebound and inspire Americans that this country can rebound and be what it once was? Can he make people in cities that have been crushed by the economy believe that our economy is rebounding?

It remains to be seen. Each American voter has to weigh the odds of each candidate to decide how they will vote in the November elections. I have no doubt that President Obama will have a great impact on the elections and that could possibly change the course of our countries politics.
