President Obama Hosts Bipartisan Super Bowl Party

President Obama Gives New Meaning to "Party Politics" with Super Bowl XLIII Watch Party

If you think watching the Super Bowl with a bunch of friends on a big screen television is great, you haven't thought about the unclassified greatness of watching with the President.

President Barack Obama has invited fifteen lawmakers-four Senators and eleven Congress men and women-to watch the Super Bowl on Sunday. Among them are five representatives from Pennsylvania, including Senators Bob Casey (D) and Arlen Specter (R). Arizona earned two spots on the invitees' list: one Republican, one Democrat. President Obama's Super Bowl watch-party list includes a total of eleven Democrats, four Republicans, and three women, making it a truly "bipartisan" event.

But don't let the bipartisan nature of the invite list fool you; President Obama is not remaining neutral when it comes to choosing the winning team of Super Bowl XLIII. He has already declared his support for Pennsylvania's own Pittsburgh Steelers.

Football fans shouldn't hold too much of a grudge for this choice. Pennsylvania is, after all, much closer to Washington, D.C. than Arizona. And the new President received a great deal of campaign support from Pittsburgh. Among his supporters were Steelers owner Dan Rooney, a Republican who endorsed and campaigned for Obama, and Franco Harris, a favored Steelers-alum who also campaigned for Obama.

No matter who wins Super Bowl XLIII, President Obama is making one thing clear through his Super Bowl watch-party. If anyone understands "party politics," it's him . . . in more ways than one!

Can you imagine going to a Super Bowl party at the White House? That's pretty cool.
