President Obama and the Noble Peace Prize

Unrealistic Expectation

People are saying that Obama doesn't deserve the Noble Peace Prize because he hasn't done anything. I think he's done a lot during the short time that he's been in office so far. People expect things to happen overnight; which is an unrealistic expectation. Obama even has to deal with what Korea is doing with their missile tests.

Foreign Affairs And The Recession

Not only is he dealing with foreign affairs; President Obama is also dealing with the recession in the US. The Bush administration left this country in economic ruins because they were so focused on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Bush administration basically ignored the problems in our own country and said that things were going great which was a lie.

The Obama administration admits to what our economic problems are and is willing to put in the time and energy to fix it. Everybody has an opinion on President Obama and the noble peace prize. My personal opinion is that it was the right thing to do to give President Obama the noble peace prize and I'll tell you why.

Communication

President Obama has opened up the lines of communication with the muslim community for one. Obama is willing to sit down at the table and talk with others to resolve our differences; whereas the Bush administration just said we don't negotiate with terrorists, period. The bush administration seemed like it wanted to go to war everywhere to resolve our differences; whereas Obama takes a different approach.

Willing

President Obama is willing to talk with Iran to help the US resolve differences with that country. It hasn't happened yet; but, at least he's willing to call them to the negotiating table; which is far more than Bush ever did.

New Ideas

President Obama seems to be more open to new ideas than the Bush administration was. President Obama can admit to where he made mistakes, where the Bush administration never did.

Noble Peace Prize

So, back to the question, is President Obama deserving of the noble peace prize? In my opinion, I think he's done a lot in the short time that he's been in office so far. So, yes; I do think that he deserves the honor of winning the noble peace prize.
