President Obama, Please, Remember 9/11

Day of Service Vs. Remembering 9/11

Sherry Tomfeld
President Obama, I watched this 9/11 remembrance footage this morning. I still have a lump in my throat and a tear stained face. If you can watch this and not feel the same, I doubt if we could ever have common ground. Some things just will not, cannot and should not go away. Remembering 9/11 is such a thing. A coward walks away from the truth. A coward would rather live in denial than die with truth on their lips and in their eyes. President Obama, most Americans want the truth. Most Americans are not cowards and can face anything when they have to.

President Obama, I found myself in instant turmoil as I watched this 9/11 video. Emotions like grief and despair when I watched people jumping off the towers in order to escape the flames. What were they thinking as they jumped? Seeing the empty firefighter uniforms and gear made me think of heroes whose songs have been sung but are gone none the less. Of the policeman who were doing all they could and in the back of their heads must have been thinking of their own families as they died.

I fought back tears and then "let 'em roll" as the 9/11 video showed the towers and Pentagon get hit. It showed the plane of heroes that sacrificed themselves in a lonely field. It showed the wreckage and death spewed at us from terrorists. Terrorists! Say it! 9/11 may bring anger when Americans remember that's okay! Terrorists of 9/11 are still out there. They may not be the ones who committed 9/ 11, but they are the ones who are instigating the next 9/11.

I watched you last night. You gave a speech on health care. What did I walk away with? I truly believe President Obama that you are a divider. A divider when it comes to race. A divider when it comes to politics. And yes, even a divider when it comes to 9/11. You insist upon making it a day of service or some such thing. Americans need and want to remember 9/11.

President Obama, I will not bend on 9/11. For the average American, EVERY DAY is a day of service. Until this country went broke and taxes started eating everyone's extra money, there were plenty of us picking up some slack here and there for people who needed it. We just don't advertise the fact that we help our fellow Americans out. President Obama, 9/11 is a day for remembering.

President Obama, you cannot change what happened on 9/11 by calling it something else. You cannot erase this history. Terrorists caused 9/11, you cannot change that. You cannot change the fact that Americans are independent thinkers for the most part. You can try to divide us, black and white, rich and poor, freedom and chains, but you will never get it done. There will always be a Katrina or a 9/11 or a tornado that sparks the American people into automatic action. We don't wait for an agency or a government group to start helping, WE, the AMERICAN PEOPLE, don't think twice, we just wade in and do what has to be done.

Please President Obama, remember 9/11.

Thank you for sharing. You put a lot of thought and heart-felt emotion into this.

I really don't understand the "poor Booby Tall Horse" comments. To me, you are one of the most sincere and enlightened people on AC...always a pleasure to read your articles, Bobby.

Thank you for this letter to President Obama. I feel the same way. The 9/11 special on FNC last night was great. I know I will never forget. It is with me everyday and even though I was a little girl on 12/7 it is burned in memory. I was filled with pride today as I watched the "Freedom Express" on FNC. I am so happy so many Americans found their way to Washington D.C. I hope our politicians were listening. Obviously President Obama and Vice-President Biden found it convenient to be somewhere else. (Maybe they can catch a rerun.)

"Poor Bobby Tall Horse...." :) I guess you don't understand that when Obama says "national day of service," he doesn't mean "Military Service." And I guess you don't understand either that when Obama says "Overseas Contingency Operation," he doesn't mean the people who committed mass murder of innocents on 9-11. Poor "John Parker"...another emotionally and morally bankrupt elitist pseudo-intellectual who believes that college courses and a fumbling use of language qualifies him to judge those who are passionate about American freedom and have continuously shown themselves throughout history to be willing to pay for it with their lives.

Thank you Bobby! I"m in here late because today is a solemn day for me and I didn't have the patience to deal with useful idiots such as John Parker. Excellent article and don't allow the ignorant to discourage you...for the lemmings will walk right over the cliff. This nation more than ever is in need of Americans that can identify the tainted kool-aid...keep up the good work.

Poor Bobby Tall Horse, I'm certain you didn't mean to come off as a small-minded bigot, but unfortunately you did. What God do you pray to? Additionally, you really do need to pay more attention when you listen to speeches. I don't often agree with the President's stand on issues, however, I am at least intelligent enough to understand his words. I worry about you and your existence and your claim to be a believer in God. And, ishabibbire, you need to learn how to digest your readings. I could recommend a couple college courses you should take which would enable you to extrapolate thoughts in a more accurate manner. At least that way you could form an opinion based on what you actually read or heard rather than just relying upon your small, and unimpressive knowledge of history and current affairs.

I'm the same way when I watch footage of 9/11. It just breaks my heart. No one, I repeat NO ONE! should ever forget that day. Excellent work, Bobby.
