President Obama Shirtless "Hot" May Front Cover Washingtonian

President Obama a Sex Symbol? I bet you never imagined that you would be reading an article about the President of the United States being " Hot" and a reason to live in Washington. This presidency is definitely ground breaking in many ways. Now we can add viewing our President as a sex symbol to the list.

President Obama is featured on the front cover of the Washingtonian's May issue as the No. 2 reason to "love living in Washing." " Our New Neighbor is Hot.", the magazine proclaims. It features President Obama shirtless wearing only a pair of red swim trunks. By the way the original color of the swim trunks were black, the magazine touched them up to make them appear red. I'm sure this was to make a bigger impact on the picture. Apparently the picture was taken by paparazzi during a vacation the Obama family was on in Hawaii last year.

While sporting a pair of swimming trunks at the beach is nothing new, it is a new concept to advertise a President of the United States as " Hot " and feature his bare chest as a reason people should love living in Washington.

I am not really sure how I feel about this picture. I do not know if editor Garrett Graff was correct in using a picture of our President this way. I do not think it demands the respect a President deserves. I can say that it is definitely freedom of speech at its best. In no other country would find a picture of their political leader in a pair of swim trunks and the word "hot" on a front cover of a magazine.

I believe the editor of the Washingtonian, Garrett Graff and the magazine did exactly what they intended to do. They wanted to sell magazines. I'm sure this picture and controversy will have them selling like hot cakes. They do say that sex sells. What better way to prove that then by featuring our President of the United States, on the front cover of a magazine in his swim trunks, and proclaiming him as "hot."

How do you feel about the picture?

What was your first thought?

Do you think it was an appropriate use of the picture?

Do you really care?

What do you think of the Washingtonian and editor Garrett Graff after this cover?

Is this the correct way to advertise our President to our country and around the world?

Many people will be asking themselves these questions and more. This definitely will be the conversation of the day around the water cooler tomorrow at work.

I think I will have to sit back and think about it all. I'm curious as to what all of you are thinking. Feel free to chime in and leave your comments.
