What Time Will Regular Programming Be on After President Obama Speech?

Mary Zeiher
The President Obama speech on Afghanistan is scheduled for prime time tonight on all networks as President Obama will finally answer to the nation on what action will be taken on sending troops and an action plan for Afghanistan. While this President Obama speech is extremely important to the country, and our national security, you may also want to know when your favorite shows will be on that are being pre-empted by the President Obama speech.

The President Obama speech will be given from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The President Obama speech is expected to start at 8:00 p.m. ET and estimates say that the speech will last between thirty minutes and an hour.

Following the President Obama speech the networks are planning the following schedule changes:

NBC programming after the President Obama speech:

NBC will move its two-hour "The Biggest Loser" from 8:00 p.m. to start at 9:00 p.m. tonight to allow an hour for the President Obama speech and coverage after the Presidential speech. NBC made the decision to remove "The Jay Leno Show" from the evening lineup completely for the President Obama speech.

ABC programming after the President Obama speech:

ABC is moving their annual showing of a "A Charlie Brown Christmas" from tonight to December 8th, one week from today, from 8-8:30 p.m. ET. ABC is also moving it's new holiday offering "Disney Prep & Landing" from tonight to December 8th and it will air at 8:30-9:00 p.m. ET. ABC will air the season premiere of "Scrubs" at 9:00 p.m. ET and then follow that with a second episode and then show "The Forgotten at 10:00 p.m. ET.

FOX programming after the President Obama speech:

FOX is assuming that the President Obama speech will be over in thirty minutes and they are planning to air their hit show "So You Think You Can Dance" for it's regular two hour run at 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

CBS programming after the President Obama speech:

CBS is planning to air a repeat of "NCIS" at 8:30 p.m., assuming like FOX that the speech will only be thirty minutes. CBS will follow "NCIS" with their hit show "Two and a Half Men" at 9:30. Then CBS will present its scheduled "Victoria's Secret Fashion Show" at 10 p.m. ET.

The networks are making it as easy as possible for the President to get a very important message out to the American people, and this is a very important speech for America and the Obama Administration. But it is nice to know that the networks are arranging their schedules so that you can also see your favorite shows.
