President Obama Swears yet Again Jobs Are His Priority

I swear if Obama "focuses" on jobs anymore we'll all be out of work by Friday night. How many times has he sworn this was his main focus? His number one priority? I can't begin to imagine where to look for that stat. Just google Obama + jobs and over 50 Million searches appear. Ridiculous though that may be, Obama has spoken about job creation, saving jobs, getting America back to work and all the rest scores of times...scores and scores and scores.

I am truly in shock at the sheer hypocrisy of the president and his supporters. How dare they once again forward that jobs are Obama's main concern when only last month DNC Chair Tim Kaine admitted "Obama's been too busy on health care to focus on jobs?" (paraphrased) Kaine's admission was offered as a mea culpa and acceptable excuse the citizens are expected to gleefully swallow.

Am I the one out of sync here? Is it only in my mind that it seems working on anciently desired progressive agenda items for nearly two years over working on skyrocketing unemployment is totally contrary to the desires and needs of this nation? Health reform is a wish list item. Putting people back to work due to economic misfortune is not a wish list item - it is a priority of the utmost concern trumped only by national sovereignty and national defense.

Job creation trumps health reform like oxygen trumps chocolate cake - both are nice; one is needed to live. So the reality is Obama spent almost two years making chocolate cake, and a poor one at that, as the health reform he shoved down our throats is exceptionally distasteful.

Tonight Obama will deliver the State of the Union Address. It will be full of the usual garbage generously interspersed with wistful glances off into the Heavens just to make sure God is approvingly watching as he informs us again how he's saved, and is still saving, the world. He'll get riled up and go into his campaigning voice. His head will shake a little as he stares over the heads of his audience, his jaw set in stone in a move reminiscent of one looking down upon his audience.

Then he'll make false promises of how hard he's working for you. How your welfare is his only concern. Next, in a move right out of an acid trip gone bad, he'll offer that we need to shrink deficits while growing government. Have I gone totally insane? Has Obama? If he tries that "grow government while shrinking deficits" junk clearly one of us is around the bend! Even his aides bailing on the administration admit Obama, despite the rhetoric, IS NOT friendly to business, except GE and union entities.

Never mind that the two year Bush Tax Cut extension does little to relieve the fear and uncertainty of tax rates. Business does not grow on two year plans...well at least not the ones hoping to survive more than the next two years. If he'd grow a pair he would propose a ten year extension of the current rates. That would lend credence to his "moving to the center" as his media sycophants assure us he's done. Lacking an actual move, a tangible and concrete one and NOT, NOT, NOT more of his lofty and craftily delivered speechifying, tonight's little Hill chit chat is more of the same from Mr. Obama.

Frankly my sarcasm cannot assuage my frustration over this man's gumption to look us in the eye and lie as he's repeatedly done, especially with jobs as the topic of said untruth. It's one thing to laud one's power of life and death over others; it's all another to wield that power and smile at me and tell me how concerned one is for my welfare as one attempts to smite me with the cudgel in one's hands.

As an historian, which is really just a short name for one who studies humanity and it's words and actions over the long haul of time, Barack Obama is a study for the ages. He will tell us over and over and over how hard he's working on fixing the economy and jobs are his top priority. The truth however, even as admitted by his principal apologists, is clearly that he's been instead a rather busy little president, working on getting his ideological agenda into law well over and above the real needs of a nation begging for relief.

And the legions will fawn at his feet and delight in wafting in his aura. Me, I'll be retching in the corner.
