Jessica Barstow
During the evening August 31st, President Obama addressed the nation about the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. "Ending this war is not only in Iraq's interest - it is in our own." says President Obama during his speech. We are nearing 10 years of war with Iraq and finally our troops are able to see the end of their stay. There are many happy families ready to reunite with those that they haven't seen for months or even years.

The President thanked that US Forces that were serving over seas, as we all thank our men and women for their service and their dedication to our country and our people.

"The future is ours to shape." wise words reminding us that we are in charge of our own destinies. This speech comes at the wonderful time shortly before 9/11 in which we can finally see closure.

Vice President Joe Biden is over in Iraq, participating in the Formal Exchange of Command ceremony. Another broadcast was done August 31st by the Secretary of Defense and House Minority Leader warning on any victory parades and celebrations done prematurely, as there are still Al-Qaeda members are still in Iraq though their activities have decreased.

Let us look forward to a new beginning and with a smile on our faces as we hope for the best and as our President says "Turn the page" . It is indeed long past due. Also addressed by President Obama was his different views of this war with Former President George Bush. They are able to see through each others differences and perhaps will be able to work together to shape this new future.
