George W. Bush is our 43rd President of the United States. He took office on January 20, 2001, re-elected on November 2, 2004, and sworn in for his second go around on January 20, 2005. Even before becoming President, Bush served 6 years as the 46th Governor for the State of Texas.

President Bush was born on July 6, 1946 in New Haven, Connecticut to parents former US President George Bush and former First Lady Barbara. He grew up in Midland, Texas with his 3 brothers and 1 sister. He attended school there and deems History his favorite subject. Bush played little league baseball and was involved in Cub Scouts. As a child, Bush's hero was baseball legend Willie Mayes.

He attended San Jacinto Junior High School in Midland until the seventh grade when he transferred to the Kinkaid School for two years. Afterwards, he went to Phillips Academy like his father had.

Bush received a bachelor's degree in history from Yale University in 1968. At Yale, he joined Delta Kappa Epsilon, the Skull and Bones secret society, and played on the school's rugby team. After Yale, he then served as an F-102 fighter pilot in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War.

Later, President Bush received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1975. Bush had problems during those years and a few run-ins with the law because of his drinking. However, after help and encouragement, President Bush straightened out his life.

Following his graduation, Bush moved back to Midland and began a career in the energy business. In 1977, he met and married his lady friend Laura Bush, and in 1981 they had two twin daughters, Barbara and Jenna. He continued his work on his father's 1988 Presidential campaign and assembled the group of partners who purchased the Texas Rangers baseball franchise in 1989.

On November 8, 1994 President Bush was elected Governor of Texas, and again on November 3, 1998.

Since becoming President of the United States in 2001, President Bush has worked with Congress to build a future of security, prosperity, and opportunity for all us Americans. He signed a tax relief that helps workers keep more of their hard-earned money. President Bush's dream is for all children to pursue their own dreams, complete an education, and make good choices. Thus, he created an education reform called No Child Left Behind. President Bush has also worked to improve healthcare and Medicare, as well as help increase military strength, pay, and benefits. When terrorists carried out the horrendous acts of 9/11, President Bush has taken steps to protect the United States and foster a world without terrorism. In doing so, his Republican ways have been questioned, and many people have lost interest and trust in him.

The Bush family has two dogs, Barney and Miss Beazley, as well as a cat, Willie. On the Holidays and other special occassions, the Bush family treks to their getaway in Maine.
