Presidential Polls in Oregon

One Woman's Perspecitive

The candidates have picked their running mates, and the news media is going crazy. Obama is staying too safe, McCain is acting too liberal. Let's review what the Presidential Polls in Oregon are saying. Oregon has been a mostly Democratic state; we are a proud state, full of beauty and hard working people. Though at times we don't feel like our vote really matters because the news media will announce a winner before our polls are even closed.

Well that aside lets review the Presidential Polls in Oregon:

www.usaelectionpolls.com has the overall electoral college race at Obama 327 vs. McCain 206

www.pollster.com shows Oregon at Obama 48.8% vs. McCain's 42%, with 62% of those voters feeling that McCain has a better handle on terrorism.

www.buzzdash.com polls, which are admittedly non-scientific, have Obama at 45% with McCain at 55%.

As you can see the Presidential Polls in Oregon are to close to call. What I feel is that Obama says whatever the situation needs for him to say. McCain isn't talking enough about the economy, but is showing heart and wisdom. Obama comes across to me as a "Used Car Salesman" who needs to unload his current inventory to make his goal. McCain has the heart, but needed the woman's vote to bring him strength. That says a lot for us girls.

The national polls have had there say, what are we really saying here in Oregon on the Presidential Polls.

The Albany Democratic Herold wrote: Obama visited Albany, OR and was introduced by his brother-in-law, the Coach at OSU. Obama spoke of his love of Oregon, what he would accomplish with the military by pulling them out, strengthening the economy, and promised to put billions into Early Childhood Education. The voters were a mix of Democrats and Curious Republicans. How this affects the Presidential Polls in Oregon is hard to say, Albany Democratic Herold still shows a very close race.

The Oregonian, out of Portland, has some strong opinions on the Presidential Polls in Oregon. Here is what there online readers are saying:

POLITICS POLL

John McCain 40% (1493 votes)

Barack Obama 60% (2273 votes)

Total Votes: 3766

Here are two voter's opinions regarding the election here in Oregon:

"Obama slammed Hillary for months on her yes vote for the war in Iraq. Now he picks Joe Biden who voted YES for the Iraq war and was a huge supporter of President Bush. Obama is a liar, he is a flip flopper. I don't trust him at all. For the first time in 40 years I'm going to cross over and vote for McCain. At least he is a war hero and I trust him."

"McCain has flip flopped on many issues, including tax cuts by Bush to the wealthy that he opposed in 2002 and recently has come to support. He has flip flopped on privatizing social security after seeing how unpopular it is. There are more, but the bottom line is that these are politicians; they will flip flop when they see it as largely unpopular. I don't trust many politicians, but I still believe that President Bush has been a disaster for this country and that John McCain has sold his soul and will continue in Bush's footsteps. Yes its, tacky, but "it's time for change". It's time for new blood; it's time for Barack Obama to be our President."

As you can see by the local Presidential Polls in Oregon compared to the voter's voice and national polls, it is "To close To Call."

The poll numbers have no reflect on my position in voting. I have strong moral values that I want upheld, and will vote for the candidate that will back me, whether Democrat or Republican. Each candidate has tried to touch our state; Barack Obama did very well in his speech in Albany. McCain is reaching out to the hard working American, which we in Oregon are.

Oregon needs jobs, with Plants closing down monthly; we struggle to make our bills at times. We are a strong state, a state willing to work hard for what we believe in. Yes in the past we have voted Democratic, but I hope that voters will put aside the "Labels" and focus on the "Candidates." Which team, Democrat or Republican will uphold Our Views - Our Life.

In conclusion, Oregon has never been an important state in the elections. As I've already stated the winner is announced before our polls close. But as an American I pray that all Oregonians with a Voters Voice will vote, that our Vote does matter, We Matter.
