Presidential Polls in Wisconsin

Barack Obama, John McCain - Who's Ahead?

The Anonymous of America
Although Wisconsin is currently lead dominantly by Democrats, according to several reports the battle between the two 2008 presidential candidates is nearly neck and neck. Wisconsin's current governor is Jim Doyle (Democrat) and Lieutenant Governor is Barbara Lawton (Democrat). However could the state of Wisconsin surprise us in November with a Republican vote?

According to the Rasmussen Reports, presidential hopeful Barack Obama is leading slightly over presidential candidate John McCain. Barack Obama leading the polls with 45% of the vote; John McCain is not far behind with 43% of the Wisconsin vote. Studies are suggesting that Wisconsin may be one of the most politically competitive states once again in November.

Barack Obama's lead in the Wisconsin political race is actually a fairly new scene. Rasmussen Report shows that in March, presidential hopeful Barack Obama had only 46% of the vote whereas presidential candidate John McCain lead the race with 48% of the vote. Yet another poll was conducted in May of 2008, showing Barack Obama with 43% of the vote, trailing behind John McCain who lead with 47% of the vote.

Presidential candidate Barack Obama clearly recognizes the importance of the people of Wisconsin and their votes. Barack Obama has several events and/or visits planned in Wisconsin in the towns of Green Bay, Madison, Waukesha, Eau Claire, Kenosha, and more. John McCain is not to be left in the dust here either. McCain has events or visits planned in the towns of La Crosse, Oshkosh, Milwaukee, and more.

2008 Presidential Candidates are taking advantage of various different ways to promote and advertise their campaigns this year, including the traditional phone calls, television advertisements, radio advertisements, and more. This year, more than ever before, the presidential candidates are taking advantage of the internet. In fact, studies show that between 63-78% of United States residents between the ages of 2 and 55 years old have access to the internet.

Politicians are also targeting the younger audience this election more than ever before. Both Barack Obama and John McCain are taking advantage of public social networking websites such as MySpace and Facebook.

Who knows what will happen to the polls now? Is Barack Obama leading the Wisconsin polls right now simply because he recently clinched the 2008 Presidential vote for the Democratic Party? Are Hillary Clinton's followers going to now pledge their support for Barack Obama's opponent John McCain? Only time can tell what the 2008 Presidential Election will bring us!

It's certainly amazing to see people turning to more "personal" sources, like Facebook and MySpace, for political information rather than the major media outlets.
