Presidential Prediction: Obama Will be President, Richardson his VP

As the Democratic Primary continues to go on and on, there appears to be no end in sight until the day of the Democratic Convention in Colorado. Barack Obama is currently in the lead in the delegate count and even if Hillary Clinton wins all of the remaining states, she won't be able to surpass Obama. Her one and only remaining hope is that the super delegates award her the party nomination. However, I fully believe that if this were to happen, there would be an uproar across the county from voters angry at the super delegates for going against the will of the people. Therefore, it is because of this reason that Barack Obama will be declared the Democratic Party nominee. So the question begs to be answered, who will be Obama's Vice Presidential running mate?

That answer, is New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson. Just last week Governor Richardson endorsed Barack Obama, just after Obama gave his historic and unprecedented speech on race relations in America. It is because of this issue of race which Governor Richardson felt compelled to publicly endorse Senator Obama. New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson is Hispanic despite the fact that he looks white. However, when he ran for president against Edwards, Obama and Clinton, race was never brought up for Richardson, even though the United States has never had a Hispanic president.

Governor Richardson would be a historic choice as Vice President. Furthermore, there is no better politician out there who is more respected and experienced than him. Richardson has served as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. He also held a cabinet position as the Secretary of Agriculture and a second cabinet position under the Clinton administration. Despite his close ties with the Clintons, Richardson decided to endorse Obama. This says a lot about Richardson in that he is willing to go against his friendship with a person for something that he believes in. He believes that Obama is the real deal and can truly bring change to America.

Richardson has smartly played his cards right, refusing to endorse a candidate until the last possible moment. In addition, he has waited until it has appeared increasingly likely that Obama will win the party nomination. Richardson is just the candidate to make a strong ticket for Obama to balance the questions of his inexperience in taking the office of President of the United States.

An Obama-Richardson ticket would be quite strong and it would also give Obama the much-needed Hispanic vote which, could deliver him the election. Senator John McCain has gained much popularity from Hispanic voters because of his favorable immigration bill which oddly enough, goes directly against the beliefs of the Republican Party. McCain has been willing to grant amnesty to immigrants in the U.S. illegally and the Hispanic voters are likely to vote for McCain over Obama...unless Bill Richardson is Obama's running mate.
