Presidential Support

Etienne J. Sarfelli

I have begun to see the error of my ways when it comes to my stance on politics. I finally recognize the importance of supporting my president, regardless of his political affiliation. Of course, there will still be times when that will be a hard pill to swallow, but for this country to have any chance of surviving, the head of the government needs to be able to be the head of government.

Of course, the difference between the lack of respect for George W. Bush during his presidency and the current lack of respect for Barack Obama is that I wrote harmless poetry and other democrats told jokes. However, there are people on the Republican side, including John Boehner, who are doing everything they can to sabotage any agreements and compromises that might be made for the benefit of the people of the United States. Furthermore, it has become quite apparent that if Boehner is not put in his place, this behavior will continue until our country has been completely destroyed.

Before I finish this article and turn over my new leaf, I feel that I must say something that needs to be understood by those who refuse to see the truth. The reason many people disliked George W. Bush was because he was a self-serving, smug, moron, and the reason people don't like Barack Obama is because he is black. It is truly hard for many people to move into the present and accept the fact that a black man can be diligent, hardworking, intelligent, and capable of leadership. Nonetheless, he is the President, as was President Bush, and that alone commands a certain amount of respect. Therefore, from this point on, I will do my best to support my president and offer him respect and moral support. And I guess I will continue to do so unless, God forbid, someone like Michele Bachmann is ever elected, at which point, all bets will be off.
