John Adams, Second President of the United States
Was nicknamed "Atlas of Independence"
He attended Harvard at age sixteen
At that time, his future was yet unseen
His father expected him to preach
Instead, for years, he chose to teach.
Then he decided to be an attorney
Another step in this man's journey.
He married his third cousin, Abigail
Their life together, was quite a tale
Five lovely children their life adorned,
And sadly one daughter was stillborn.
On the first trip to DC, this family of ours
Got lost, and were in the woods for hours
In the white house, paint was still wet
Cause no one had ever lived there yet.
No one had dryers, and that is why
She hung laundry in East room to dry.
John Adams wouldn't know what to say
If he knew his son would be president one day.
