Presidential and VP Candidate Cabbage Patch Dolls Being Auctioned on EBay

Jody Morse
We are constantly hearing about dolls being made to look a lot like people. There have been Lucille Ball, Ellen Degeneres, and even Desperate Housewife dolls. Now, there are Cabbage Patch Dolls which look like John McCain, Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, and Joe Biden! This week, they will be auctioned off on eBay!

One of a Kind Dolls

Keep in mind that these are not dolls that you are going to be able to find at your local Wal-Mart or even Toys 'R Us. The dolls are one of a kind - meaning that only one has been produced for each presidential or VP candidate. Since this election is going to be so historical, and there is only one doll for each candidate, it is probably going to be very valuable in the future. Of course, what this also means is the bids are going to be extraordinarily high for each of these dolls. In fact, this leads us to our very next point - the current eBay bids that are on the dolls.

Current Bids For the Dolls

As of Friday, October 31st, 2008 at 8:50 pm, they are 61 bids on the Sarah Palin Cabbage Patch Doll and the price is at $3,650. There are 40 bids on the John McCain Cabbage Patch Doll and the price is at $1,025. There are 50 bids on the Barack Obama Cabbage Patch Doll and the price is at $1,225. With only 42 bids, the Joe Biden Cabbage Patch Doll is the one which may be the only one that's affordable for most of us - currently, the bid is at $710. That being said, you can expect to see the bids go up by November 4th, when the auctions for these Cabbage Patch Dolls go off.

Worth the Price?

Is the price of these Cabbage Patch Dolls worth it? Keep in mind that all of the proceeds from the Barack Obama, John McCain, Joe Biden, and Sarah Palin dolls that will be sold on eBay are going to be donated to Toys For Tots. By purchasing one of these dolls, you will be able to make a difference in the lives of children by helping them get one of the gifts that they are hoping for this Christmas - or any gift at all. If you really want to "donate" to a good cause and get something that may be worth a lot of money one day out of the process, then you may want to bid on one of the presidential or VP candidate Cabbage Patch Dolls.

It should be interesting to see just how much these Cabbage Patch Dolls end up going for! Although it would normally seem ridiculous to spend thousands of dollars on a doll that looks like Sarah Palin, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, or John McCain, the good thing is that it is at least going towards a good cause. And, with this election, anything can happen!

I know I'd rather spend my money on other things than on political lookalike dolls!

WOW! That's a lot of cash for one of these dolls. I used to have the regular ones when they first came out.

We supposedly have a tight economy and people are spending this on dolls?! Why not just contribute money to the political party of choice, seems like it would help more. But Toys for Tots is a good cause so I hope they help some needy kids, at least. Excellent reporting!

Of all the political dolls I can imagine, I'd never have thought Cabbage Patch.
