On February 9th the presidents' poll numbers showed 65.4. This is a fifteen point drop since February. One could come to the conclusion that his shine and luster is becoming a little tarnished. I did not vote for the President but after he won I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and support him until there are indications of what direction he attempts to steer the country. Unfortunately there are not many issues I now agree with the President.
I am a sixty-seven year old married man retired collecting Social Security and a small pension. My wife and I have a Medicare Advantage program and we are satisfied with the program. We have very little debt and living within our means. Retirement is supposed to be a time of fun and leisure not fear and anxiety. Unfortunately I am experiencing fear and anxiety.
There are many issues that have affected my opinion of the President. The main issue is this health care threat. I have had health insurance throughout my life and used it very little. Now I am at the age where this insurance becomes important. Instead of feeling secure I am confronted with fear and anxiety because no one really knows or can explain to me how this mess is going to affect me. I predict medical rationing is in store for the entire country.
Another disappointment is the 787 billion stimulus bill. The president stated that unemployment would not go over eight percent if the bill was passed. Now unemployment has reached 10.2 percent. Where is the outrage? The President is getting a pass from the lame street media again. This bill may have worked if other uncertainty wasn't created by health care reform and that looming cap and trade bill. Companies don't know how much these bills are going to cost their bottom line and they are holding off hiring until they get a better handle on these looming expenses.
I could go on and on. Afghanistan should have been handled better. The President assigned his own general to direct the war. The general is a career soldier who has spent his entire life studying military strategy and operations. He gives his recommendations to the President and the President decides that he and other Washington aides know better than the general on the ground. Does this sound like Viet Nam all over?
Trying the 9/11 perpetrators in New York City do not set well with me. Get ready for the greatest circus of the decade. The Attorney General and the President has stated in public that they will be convicted. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?
For months the administration blamed the previous administration for everything. This excuse has run its course. When the President signed the stimulus bill he bought the economy. When the President ignored his general on the ground he bought Afghanistan. When the Presidents attorney general moved the 9/11 trials to New York City the president became responsible for the circus to come.
I am one of the 44.6 that disapproves of the President and the direction he is attempting to take the country.
