Pressed Against the Darkness in My Heart

Something Nothing Itself is Huge

Kylyssa Shay
My heart is swollen like a flooded river,
too big for my chest
wet, soft, fragile

In the dark,
my heart pressed tight against the cheek of God
grows overfilled with tears.
No sorrow washed away, nor pain, nor fears -
only emptiness.
No one sees teardrops in the dark of night,
hidden deep inside my heart.
I can only feel them burning,
hollowing out a space
that nothing in this life can fill.
