Pressure Cluster

The Fear Grows

Heather Dekin
Stomach in a chokehold with all internal organs
Intestines swinging like windblown swings
Heart lodged tightly up in the throat
No food or liquid allowed into the body
Nourishment forbidden to enjoy or seek relief
Too much of the future at stake
Unable to approve of one near the heart
An organ too infallible for logical reasoning
Should be objective with bill collectors and lawmen
Anxiety snowballed into a maddening frenzy
Legs a set of tires trapped in a mud filled ditch
Completely submerged in nature's sins
No amount of hot water or soap can remove it
Another layer of muck and mire replaced one lost
Sponges and rags rendered useless with each washing
Forced to hide in bed when taken ill
Placed in hibernation until further notice
Or until reality dissolved like a prescription pill
Whichever gave the best contact high.
