I wanted to help but wasn't thrilled with shelling out $110. I did it though, all in the name of a good cause and helping out a promising student. She said that part of the proceeds were going to help ill children at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. I have a fondness for that hospital as my son goes there for checkups annually for hemophilia. She gave me a receipt and said not to freak out if I didn't receive the books in 120 days and that I would get them probably before the 120 days were over. I received a receipt with the website and my receipt number on it and she quickly rushed out the door. After she left, I had a sick feeling knowing in my gut that I had just been scammed but hoping I could be wrong. I went to the website (www.prestigesalesusa.com) and clicked on "Customers" where it asks you to put in your receipt number. I did so but a screen appeared with various links leading to nowhere. I just figured the screen may be blank for a few days until Denise entered my information.
I had forgotten about the order until yesterday when my son asked about the books. I found the receipt and went back to the website to see if I could get any information about my order. Again, the screen offered no information. Of course, there is no customer service phone number. Only a way to email your question to an anonymous inbox that is never checked, in my opinion.
After googling the Company name, I found various complaints of the same nature about this company. I would like to see if something can be done to shut them down or render them helpless. This is despicable. If an investigator could pose as an applicant and try to go behind the scenes, it would be most beneficial. My neighborhood is mostly retired folks who may have fallen victim to the same scam I did. Regardless of age, these salespersons are stealing and lying from people who are just trying to support a supposed good cause.
Yesterday, I called my bank to find out the check had been cashed on April 15th and signed by a Denise G, 567489, and Robert M. with some undetermined scribblings after his name, deposited into Prestige Sales account in Phoenix, AZ (Compass Bank).
I received an email from their customer service person Andrew, today, saying that their records indicate that the orders are still processing and that I should receive my books within the magic 120 day time-frame. My beef with that is that I should be able to check the status of my order myself online under the "Customers" tab or be able to talk to a human. He could have an auto-mailer to send out to all the complaints, like a robot. This company does not instill a sense of trust.
I also checked with the Phoenix division of the Better Business Bureau to find that this company has an "F" rating and that the owner has various companies, with the same ratings and related complaints. Somehow, I think the email I received this morning is just buying time.
I could be wrong and still receive these books but I still am wary. Just beware when opening your doors to salesmen, especially those that don't give you a true way to contact them to do business.

I wrote a check to them in 9-08-09.. and as of today nothing. I have tried to contact the boy and the company with no results. I have read so many bad things about this company. The check will be canceled.. I will never do that again NEVER!!!!
Like the other people I have read about, a nice, neat looking young man came to my door on a cold rainy night, he said he was a neighbor. He was carrying an umbrella and I felt sorry that he had to be out on a night like that to better himself by trying to earn money to make a trip to Ireland with his drum corp band. He said he was selling books that would go to benefit a children's hospital. I only could give him a donation of a check for eight dollars. He offered to write the check for me as I was having difficulty understanding him as to whom I should make it payable. I left him have the check to write the name of the recipient, but he also wrote the printed figure and written amount of the check. It was written for eight dollars okay. So I gave it to him and he gave me two receipts for the eight dollars. He was very courteous and left saying he hoped he could get to go on the trip to Ireland.
When I received my bank statement the next month I discovered that he had added a 9 infr
I received a book on November 25, 2009 from my order placed October 7. It was not the book I ordered (I ordered Disney Villans and got Disney Princess) but I had asked that my book be sent directly to a Children's Hospital, so it really didn't matter. I will give the book to a Christmas collection.
The book was was overpriced. Worth about $15--cost $34 plus $15 service charge.
I have no problem helping the college age guy win a trip to London (good education) and even if he doesn't win he'll earn some money. Door to door sales is hard and takes guts.
He told me he was a neighbor. I don't know if he meant around the corner, or in a global sense. I don't see that it matters.
wondering if after you cancelled your checks did you send in the cancel paperwork on back of your receipt?
Hi, thank you for the advice. I had just written a check and did not feel good about the boy who was selling them so I came in and looked prestige up on the internet. Thanks to your information I went outside and found the boy and got my check back. I think it is a scam
I just wrote my $55.00 check for the girl wishing to study in Australia. It seemed like a lot of money, but I wanted to help. I am not usually taken in, and I still hope I was not.
Yes, so I was wrong. I did receive my books, as promised, and I apologize for any negative publicity for Prestige Sales. I still stand by not liking that I could not check the status of my order and getting open-ended responses from "customer service" but I did receive what I ordered.
Sue, I should amend this article as I finally DID receive my books. Just keep on top of it.
This just happened to me last night! I wrote out a check for $55. I called the bank and stopped payment on the check first thing this morning!!! I am from Mass, and yes, he was trying to earn money to study abroad...
