Pretend

Wǒ ài Nǐ

Etienne J. Sarfelli

All this time I could make believe you loved me
I could pretend
I could hold on to the feeling
to the belief that there was something there
But now that dream is shattered
The hope is gone
Just like that
Our relationship lies in ruins
The pretense is over
I'm more alone than I've ever been
Even though nothing has changed
I've made believe there was something between us
And I never asked for the truth
I wanted to believe that my story of us was the accurate one
But now I know I was wrong.
And I found out the hard way
that I would rather not know your true feelings for me
That I would rather go on playing pretend.
