The best thing you can do to prevent the dreaded red rings is to turn your Xbox off when you are not using it. The Xbox uses a lot of power, and if you keep it running, it can tend to over heat. Whenever you are not using it, turn it off. Not only are you saving your Xbox, but you are saving power and the environment at the same time. Great, let's move on to the next tip.
Like I mentioned above, over heating is a bad thing that the Xbox does sometimes. Try to keep your Xbox in a cool environment. Also, you may have notived the spaces on the bottom of the Xbox. This is so there is a little space between the Xbox and the ground, for ventilation. Do not ever leave the Xbox on a carpet, for this defeats the purpose of the vents. Another tip that goes along with this is to keep the Xbox in an upright position. You may think to yourself, "But what if it falls over?" The thing is, as long as you are careful not to make the Xbox tip over, it can better ventilate, so in turn making a less chance of over heating. Lets move on to drops and falls.
Another main cause of red rings can be to leave the Xbox close to the ground. If the Xbox were to somehow fall, it wouldn't be very long to the floor. Pieces, internally and externally, can easy break if the Xbox is dropped.
One of the top reasons is console modding. I do not recommend in the slightest bit having your Xbox modded. It may look cool, or give you an extra edge, but it is not a very bright idea. Mods instantly void the warranty, and it is just not a good idea.
Well, I hope that with this guide you can prevent your Xbox from getting Red Rings. Thank you all for reading, and happy gaming!
