Prepare Early
Sure, you'll miss out on the Black Friday sales but make a goal to have all of your holiday shopping before the end of October. You'll spend more money but think of this. Is the 25 to 40% you'll save on gifts worth the stress of the crowded stores, trying to find a parking spot, and/or dealing with all the rude and crazy staff and fellow customers in the stores? Yeah, I know instead of spending about $600 on holiday gifts this year, I could have waited for Black Friday and only spent about $400 or less but I did this between July and mid October and did layaway on a lot of it so it hurt a bit less.. That's right, you're not going to see me at the mall or in Walmart on Christmas eve.
Make Babies!
Yeah, I chucked a bit when I read that too. Don't take that literally. You can make babies but you can just go through the motions too. But seriously. Do you know how many children are conceived in the winter months? I was born October 5th in 1968. My older brother was born October 4th, 1962. My older sister was born November 21st, 1964. We were all born in cold upstate, New York too in the Catskills. Go ahead and count it. Yep, looks like my sister was conceived in the month of February. It appears that my brother and I were conceived in early January or late December. Being cold is a perfect excuse to snuggle and we all know what snuggling can sometimes lead to.
Go On Some Winter Dates
There are some dates you can do that are exclusively winter dates. There's nothing wrong with dinner and a movie but take your lady our sleigh riding. Go ahead and find a snowy hill, rent or buy a sled, haul it up the hill, you get on, your lady gets on behind you with her arms around you, and bolt down the hill. Rinse and repeat. Rent a snowmobile or a four wheeler and go riding with her. Go skiing. Skiing is fun. Make a weekend getaway out of it. Start a snowball fight with her, build a snowman with her. Bring the kid out of you and her.
Go Sight Seeing
Sure winter is cold but it's also beautiful. Take your lady on a country walk after a fresh snow. The snow piled up on the tree branches, the partially frozen river is a beautiful sight and has the potential to be romantic as well. Sometimes, it's the little things that can make all the difference.
Winter doesn't have to be as stressful as it usually is. With some creative thinking and some preparation, you can make this winter easier than all the ones before. Just think out of the box.
