Prevent Wrinkles with These Simple Tricks

Marki E.
It may not be possible to completely stop the cycle of aging and the prevention of wrinkles, but we can hit the "pause" button for a time. A lot is dependent on your lifestyle, your stress level and your skin type. If you are committed to making some small changes, you will reap the benefits through your appearance for a long time to come. Here are some helpful tips and tricks in preventing wrinkles:

Protect Your Skin From The Sun

Extended exposure to the suns rays will accelerate the aging process in your skin and beginning of wrinkles. In small amounts sunlight produces vitamin D in the body, but prolonged exposure damages the skin. The damage will be done long before it becomes visible to the naked eye, and by then the health implications could be irreversible. The lesson in all of this is to use sunscreen whenever possible

Have a Water Therapy

Dry skin is not attractive at all. Skin must be moist in order to hold up that fresh, dewy look that people relate with looking young. In order to do this you have to keep yourself hydrated. This is simple enough to do, just drink eight to ten 8-ounce glasses of water per day. This will avoid the appearance of wrinkles and crows feet on your face.

Get a Good Moisturizer

Choosing a good moisturizer and applying it religiously will keep your body's hydrated and healthy. Using it every day, twice a day, will aid your skin and prevent damage. If you can find a moisturizer with SPF protection, that would be even better. In some environments a humidifer would be benefitial to your skin, especially in the winter when you have the central heater on.

Don't Smoke Or Quit Smoking

There is no way around it. Smoking not only increases your chances of lung disease such as bronchitis and emphysema but promotes heart disease, strokes and yes, impotence. Smoking allows the gums to shrink, causing your teeth to become loose. Smoking literally robs your skin of oxygen and replaces it with carbon monoxide. This decreases the blood flow to the skin, making it look lifeless.

Smoking also causes premature aging in other ways. It uses up vitamin C in the body, about 35mg for each cigarette smoked. Vitamin C cannot be manufactured in the body, yet one of its benefits is the preservation of collagen in the skin, the substance that gives skin its fresh and youthful appearance. Without it, collagen breaks down and causes premature wrinkles around the eyes and mouth.

While it is not possible to halt the aging process, eliminating some of the effects of it are within our grasp. With the aid of these simple hints and tricks, you too will be able to pause the cycle of aging.
