Prevent Yeast Infections by Eating the Right Foods

destiny
Millions of women suffer from yeast infections each and every year and anyone that has ever had a yeast infection, never wants to have one again. Yeast infections occur when a fungus that normally lives in the vagina multiplies. Eating a lot of sugary foods like honey, sugar and molasses can raise the amount of sugar in the bloodstream and unfortunately sugar provides food for the yeast to thrive on.

According to a small study at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York, one cup of yogurt a day will help clear up yeast infections and prevent them from coming back. The yogurt used in the study contained live cultures of bacteria called Lactobacillus Acidophilus. This friendly bacteria helps to control the growth of yeast in the intestines and the vagina.

Eating yogurt that contain Lactobacillus Acidophilus will keep the fungus under control. Although national brands such as Dannon and Yoplait creamy contain Lactobacillus, you should probably use plain yogurt or yogurt that is artificially sweetened, because the sugar found in most yogurt's may provide food for the yeast. To find yogurt brands containing Lactobacillus Acidophilus, simply go to health food stores in your area.

Garlic is another food that we have come to know that has several health benefits. Garlic contain helpful chemical compounds such as ajoene, allicinalliin and diallyl sulphide, all in which fight against fungal infections. Researchers at the Loma Linda University in California suggests that garlic can help cure yeast infections and prevent them from coming back. You can eat several cloves of crushed or chopped garlic a day and the garlic can be eaten raw or cooked.

Also eating vegetables that contain beta-carotene and vitamins C and E will make your body more resistant to fungus. As women we must stay healthy for ourselves and our families, so start today by maintaining a proper diet along with exercise.
