Preventing Acne

Acne is a serious medical condition that plagues peoples lives. It leaves their face, neck, and even their back covered with blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. Not only is this a medical problem, but it leads to emotional problems such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and depression. It's a disease of the skin and is either mild, moderate, or severe. It is caused when the sebaceous glands that are under your skin over-produce an oil called sebum. When that happens the reasons for the over-production is because of clogged pores and imbalances in hormones.

The good news is that acne can be prevented by just simply applying good, healthy habits to your everyday life. They are sure to benefit your skin as well as how you feel about yourself. The areas that you will want to focus on are proper skin care and your stress levels. A very effective way to prevent acne is to avoid touching your face with your hands. The bacteria and dirt from them can get into your pores and clog them, which will only further worsen your acne. If you are a woman suffering from acne you will want to prevent from wearing a lot of makeup as it can get lodged into your pores and clog them as well. If you absolutely must you should only use water-based makeups.

Another tip for to prevent acne would be to maintain your hygiene by taking showers regularly. Make sure and wash your hair and keep it out of your face. It is important to wash your face two to three times a day with a cleanser that contains salicyclic. To keep your skin from worsening and breaking out further keep from exposing your skin to the sun for too long. Drinking water is another great way to prevent acne because it hydrates your skin and it flushes out any toxins that can make your acne worse. I recommend drinking up to 8 glasses of water per day. You will want to increase your amount of water intake if you exercise, because exercising induces perspiration and every time you sweat you lose moisture.

By sweating your body flushes out harmful toxins that can contribute to your breakouts. In addition to exercising it is good to maintain a healthy diet by eating vitamin and fiber rich foods and following up with supplement vitamins as well. By eating healthy and exercising you fight off stress that throws off the balance of your skin and other systems in your body. Increased stress equals increased amounts of sugars and adrenaline which contribute to breaking out. Preventing acne will take a lot of self-discipline and commitment, but in the long run you will have a healthy glow and a blemish free complexion.
