One of the most embarrassing ailments on the planet is bad breath. We all have bad breath at one point in our lives and the best way to stop it from happening is to learn how to prevent bad breath.

Take a look on your diet when you want to prevent bad breath. It is a poor diet that is the main contributing factor to having bad breath and a few small changes will make the world of difference to how often and how bad your bad breath is!

There are certain foods that are going to cause bad breath whether you like it or not, and these include foods such as garlic or onions, or other foods that smell particularly bad. Try and refrain from eating these foods if you want to prevent bad breath as no amount of minted sweets, brushing your teeth or drinking mouthwash will eliminate these smells.

Make sure you brush your teeth when you wake up in the morning and when you go to bed at night. It is advisable to brush your teeth at least two or three times per day, but brushing too often can damage your teeth so don't become too enthusiastic! This brushing action will help you to rid your mouth and the crevices within it of plaque which is one of the main causes of bad breath. Therefore, brushing the recommended amount in one day will help to prevent bad breath.

Once you have brushed your teeth, another thing that you can do to prevent bad breath is to use a mouthwash. It should be swirled around the mouth after every time that you brush your teeth and this can help to get rid of plaque and also wash out any bacteria or food particles that are hiding within your mouth.

Foods that are high in sugar content can cause bad breath so to prevent bad breath, try cutting down on the amount of high sugar foods that you have in your diet. Sugar free gum can be chewed and this can help to prevent bad breath, especially if it is mint in flavor.

Drinking more water is another way in which you can try to prevent bad breath. Dry mouths tend to harbor more bacteria that can cause bad breath than moist mouths, so to prevent bad breath, drink more water. This can also help to wash away bacteria and food particles in the same way as the mouth wash works.

There are so many ways in which you can try to prevent bad breath and if the problem gets too much or too embarrassing, you can always go and see your Doctor. It is advisable to try these methods first, however, as these may work.
