Preventing Mold from Growing in Your House When it's Raining or Snowing

When it rains you may want to do some things to help prevent mold from developing in your home. Even when it is snowing you may discover that these practices can be good in preventing mold in your home.

Keep Windows Closed When It Rains
When it rains don't leave your windows open for long periods at a time. While it is nice to let cool fresh rain air in your home this could cause mold because of the condensation.

Wipe Down Any Condensation That You Find
If You see that condensation has appeared in your home wipe it up, this is a common thing that leads to the development of mold.

Make Sure Your Shoes Dry
When you come inside and it was raining out side, or the ground is wet from it raining earlier, or if there is snow on the ground, because it is snowing or has snowed, your shoes may have become wet. Make sure, especially if you don't know exactly when the next time that you are going to be wearing these particular pair of shoes, that your shoes are placed so they are able to fully dry. This is something that is also a good idea so your shoes are not wet when you need to put them on again.

Make Sure Your Snow and Rain Gear Dry
Rain coats and hats as well as galoshes are going to be wet after you have come in from the rain. It is important that you are sure that they are fully dry before you store them away or don't know when the next time you will need them will be. When it is snowing outside and your winter coat or boots have become wet, sometimes your boots can become wet if you were just walking in the snow out even if it isn't fresh snow, you will want to make sure that they will fully dry in the place that you have left them.

Shake Your Umbrellas Before You Store Them Away
Before you close the door to a rainy day, if you were using an umbrella you will want to make sure that you shake as much water as you can before you store it, or place it in an area where it can fully dry.

Though there is a chance for mold when it rains as long as things are properly drying in a timely fashion you shouldn't have any mold problems.
